Save as .doc file in Word 2007

I want to be able to save all documents as .doc files rather than the
new .docx files. After I change the save option .doc in the Office
Buttton, Word Options, the save format for a session is .doc, but
after I restart my computer (running Vista Home Premium) the save
options reverts to .docx.
Help!?
