Save As Gifs

If I try, while in Outlook, to Save Picture as a gif, it switches it
to a bitmp and all animation is lost.

I have discovered if I send it to my gmail account and save it from
there, no problem saving it as a gif, so I am left to assume that it
is MS Outlook (I use 2003) that does it.

Is there any way I can alter that ?
