Hi Everyone,
I have a Word document that has a number or cross references that link to
bookmarks. We would like to create an HTML version of the document (at
customer's request). The problem is that when I Save As -> Web Page, in the
resulting .htm file the cross references only work if it is open in Word
(using a ctrl click). If I open the .htm file in IE, they don't work. I
created the cross references and bookmarks the standard way within Word, and
they have always worked in the past.
All of the cross reference field codes have the following form (this one
references a glossary term):
REF gloss_term \h \* MERGEFORMAT
In the .htm file, it turns the cross reference into a span:
<span style='mso-field-code:" REF gloss_term \\h \\* MERGEFORMAT "'>
Obviously this is not what I want. Why is Word not creating a link out of
this cross reference in the .htm file? Is there a way I can make Word turn
the cross reference into a link in the .htm file? Does anyone know why this
is not working?
By the way, I'm using Word 2007, but the document was created in a previous
version of Word (not sure which). Colleagues who are using different versions
of Word have tried saving the file with the same results.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Josh
