Save as "Microsoft Word 2001Document" changed to "Microsoft Word Mac 98 ..."

It's just a minor problem, but nontheless I would like to fix it.

My Microsoft Word 2001 worked fine and still does, but after
installing MacLink Plus 11, I am unable to save any files as
"Microsoft Word 2001 Document", which was the normal way before.

Now I get a "Microsoft Word Mac 98 Document"-window for my savings.

Older files, saved as 2001-docs, now appear with the finder
information as "Microsoft Word Mac 98 Document".

Of cause, I have installed the newest update-bundle for MacOffice
2001.
I also deinstalled MacLink Plus 11, and I rebuilded the desktop
several times.
No, until today, I didn't deleted my Word prefs.

To be sure: I can open and save all docs from PC to Mac and vice
versa.
But I am not sure, that my doc are saved in 2001-format.

Perhaps it's just a "cosmetical" problem, but I want to be sure about
it.
Any suggestions are highly welcome.

Thanks,

Sven

Yes, it's a cosmetic problem. File formats for MacOffice98/01/v.X
are identical, and are identical to the WinOffice97/00/02/03 formats.

OS9 uses the desktop database to determine the application that
should open a file by default. Rebuilding the desktop is supposed to
set the most recent version as the default, although in some
circumstances, having both Office 98 and Office 2001 at the same
directory level can cause the desktop database to prefer Office 98.

Thanks for your hints.
I checked the suggested link and followed its instructions.
Meaning, I deleted an older MacOffice 98 ...
Unfortunatly, after rebuilding the desktop, nothing changed. Still
"Mac 98" ...
Could it be possible, that a still existing Word 5.1a with its
converters can cause the problem?

In my opinion, there a direct relation between installing MacLink Plus
11 and the occurence of that problem.
Before that, Office 98 and Office 2001 lived friendly together on
seperate partions of my disk.
