Save As Not Responding in Word

I have uninstalled and reinstalled MS Word 2003 in new Dell computer. Word
and Excel in My Documents hang in Save and Open with message displayed every
time Save As Not Responding, Open Not Responding. Eventually open after
hanging for 30 seconds. Microsoft website has no information. Dell have no
ideas other than uninstall reinstall. Has not made any difference. Have also
done Defrag.
