Save as PDF

I am using the 2007 Office Suite. I installed Microsoft's Save as PDF/XPS
piece. In Access, Excel, and PowerPoint the Save As pdf or XPS works just
fine. However, in Word, it brings up the Save As dialog box and I have to go
down and change the file type to PDF (of which it then changes the options in
the bottom of the dialog box). I have uninstalled and re-installed the
pdf/xps piece a couple of times, but that hasn't worked. Any suggestions?

Are you actually clicking SaveAs PDF or XPS? as this should open the Publish
as PDF or XPS dialog?
If it doesn't then it *MAY* be attributable to a corrruption of the Word
data key in the registry. Rename or delete that key and Word will replace it
with a new one -

Graham -
Yes I am clicking the SaveAs PDF/XPS option - that's why I thought it was
rather goofy that it works correctly in the other applications, just not Word.

I deleted the data key as you had suggested, still same thing.

I can't think of anything else that might cause the problem - though you
could try attending to the other trouble shooting tips in that link. It
works correctly here.

Hi PikeBay,

When you use
Office Button=>Save As=>PDF or XPS
what file type is being shown as the default?

Do you have a default printer set in
Office Button=>Print=>Print ?

If you hold the ctrl key when starting Word (safe mode) do you get the same result?

Hey Bob -

When I use the Save As PDF/XPS option, the default file type is "Word
Document" (the first option on the list). Even when I set the default
printer as MS XPS Document Writer, I still get the same thing.

I do have a default printer set - it is a multi-function copier. So what I
did was I installed my HP LaserJet here at home and set that as the default.
Same thing.

When I start in Safe mode, I get the same result.

Thanks for looking at this.
