"Save as" text box disappears behind toolbars

Greetings.

I'm sure this is an easy one. I normally use standard and formatting
toolbars at the top of my documents; however, when I select "save as,"
the top of the "save as" box, including the document name text box,
disappears behind one of my toolbars. That necessitates closing a
toolbar so that I can view or change the title of the document before
saving. Aside from relocating toolbars to the side of the document, is
there an easy solution to this annoyance?
Thanks.

Basically, that means your toolbars aren't *quite* in the right place.
There's a "sweet spot" where you can dock them and then stuff will
automatically jump out of the way, but I think the only way to find the
right spot is to drag them around, and look closely for the moment when they
lock into place.

Here's Clive Huggans's description of the "sweet spot":
To solve the problem, I only have to move any *one* of my toolbars a few
millimetres out of position. Then I very slowly move it back. When it is
almost "docked" into place, it becomes temporarily "highlighted" with a darker
border. Then I let go of the mouse button and the toolbar will dock into
place. At the same time, the Word document(s) on the screen move out from
under the menu bar.

I tried the above-mentioned "sweet spot" solution, and, although the
toolbars did snap into place, as long as I have two toolbars at the top
of the document, when I attempt to save, the document slides up under
the lower of the two. Any other suggestions??
Thanks

Hmmm. Try troubleshooting. Which version are you using?

IF an OS X version: Standard Troubleshooting Suggestions here:
http://word.mvps.org/MacWordNew/TroubleshootingIndex.htm
(hit refresh a few times in Safari, or use a different browser)

One small optional check. Click on View | Outline. If your toolbars are
properly docked, another toolbar should appear and your doc should
automatically jump out of the way.

In Word 2004, if my toolbars are not docked, the top of the document pops
under a toolbar, but it's an all or nothing problem, not one triggered by
save. By the way, I assume you mean this happens when you do Save As and
the dialog comes up? What happens if you ignore this, save the doc, and
dismiss the dialog? Does it go back to normal?

Or do you mean everytime you hit cmd-s, the doc moves, you move it back, and
so forth repeating on and on?

PS to Beth--thanks, I *knew* someone had a better description of how to dock
the bars than I did, but couldn't remember it.
