"save as" throws "not responding error"

I recently installed Office 2003. I recently moved from using Outlook
Express to using Outlook.
When I go to save an attachment by using "save as" I find that it gets
extremely slow or hung up... the pull down menu for "save in" does not come
up... at the top of the dialog box it says "(Not Responding)". If I wait two
minutes or so (which is forever if you are used to it coming up with a click)
it will eventually find it.
I am not sure if it is a RAM issue as it seems to occur more often at the
end of the day. Any suggestions or thoughts?
Word seems to be acting "quirky" as the Outlook email editor as well.

Sounds like a broken/redundant connection set up in Explorer. Open Windows
Explorer and go to mapped drives. Remove any that are redundant or not
continuously accessible to your computer. Test again.
