Save As window keeps popping up

I have been running Office 2000 Pro for years and just upgraded to Office
2003 in hopes to resolve problem. Occasionally, I can type for hours using
Outlook or Word before the "Save As" window pops up by itself. At that time,
the (red X) or the <cancel> button clears window for a second but then it
pops back up as before. Only when I press the <ESC> key will the window
clear. But only until my next few keystrokes. Example: (letters, shift-key,
backspace, etc.) Then, the "Save As" window pops up again quicker. And then
it continues to pop up even without keystrokes. I cannot write word
documents nor email without this occurring. Excel and other programs are not
affected. Background: I've always installed updates for XP and office as
they became available. Norton scan does not detect any problem. At this
writing, in Internet Explorer, I have no problem. It only affects Word or
Outlook programs. Can anyone please help direct me on eliminating this
infuriating problem.....thanks in advance.

It sounds like Speech is enabled, and Office is interpreting some sound as a
command. Click Tools. Is Speech checked? If so, then click it to turn it
off. Does that fix the problem?

Speech in Word is not even installed. (I clicked on it and it asked if I
wanted to install it--I answered no.) I had unchecked FastSave and AutoSave
but problem continued after reboot as well. I had been working fine until
December, that's when it all started. Problem is still with Word and Outlook
writings only. Thanks for trying.

This could be caused by a third-party add-in since Word does not
automatically prompt the Save As dialog. And if you are using Word as
your email editor in Outlook then the likely cause is an add-in,
either a global template or COM Add-in found in Word.

To determine if you are using any global templates go to
Tools/Templates and Add-Ins and see if there are any global templates
or add-ins listed. If so they are located in one of your Startup
folders. The location of the Word\Startup folder can be found under
Tools/Options/File Locations and the Office\Startup folder can be
found in the Office installation path..

Take a look in each folder and if you find more than one file move
them one at a time and try duplicating the error after each file is
moved out of the folder until you determine which one is causing the
problem.

As of Word 2000, Word can have COM add-ins. COM are added via the
Registry rather than the Startup folders. To determine whether or not
you are using COM Add-In you can add the "COM Add-in" command to your
toolbar:

- Right-click any toolbar and select Customize
- On the Commands tab, select the Tools category
- Locate COM Add-Ins on the right
- Drag/Drop to a location of your choice
- Close the Customize dialog and click the COM Add-in command

To unload an add-in remove the tick in the check box in the dialog.

Thank you for your input but it I have no COM add-in's at all.
Now, it mainly pops up in Outlook2003 with any keystroke after staying
connected to internet. Once I block internet access AND allowing sreensave
to come on and then have to log back in, then and only then will the Save As
window cease popping up.
Additional note: In Word, I was assigning keyboard values to macros and
"F12" kept populating the field. After pressing ESC twice, it will halt
auto-populating the field. I have already disabled any command associated
with F12 in an attempt to work freely.
Please, any other suggestions? Thanks in advance.
