save as

1/2 of the time I hit save as and the program does not
respond and I have to close it down and restart (also on
Word).

Do you normally log into a network with network drives? If so, does
this occur when you are not on the network? If so, did you reboot the
machine before you went off of the network? If not, then your
computer still thinks that it is on the network and will look for network
drives when you do a save as. If you get in the habit of rebooting when
you are off of the network (not hibernate / sleep), then it should work.
