Save changes dialog popping under

J

Jason Coleman

Hello,

I'm running into an unusual problem with one system. It's not fatal but
is really annoying. When a document is opened by double clicking on it,
and the document is only looked at, and then the user attempts to close
word by clicking on the window close button(the X), a "save changes"
dialog is being generated even though no changes were made, but what's
worse is that this dialog is not coming to focus on top. It's popping
under everything, which makes it look like word is refusing to close.
Is there any way to fix this?

Thanks
Jason

You don't mention which version of Word you have, but if it's Word 2002, see
"WD2002: You Are Prompted to Save Changes When You Close a Document Even
Though You Have Made No Changes" at

Thanks I'll look into that one. It's which ever word came with the XP
office suite. I can't/don't keep track anymore. :)

That's Word 2002. One of the add-ins specifically mentioned in this article
is the Microsoft Works Suite Add-in for Word, which would not be relevant if
you didn't get Word as part of Works Suite, but there are other add-ins that
can cause the same problem.

As well as Suzanne's clues, it may also be Norton AV causing this. Are you
using NAV and which version?
