save changes in normal.dot

Every time I close Word 2003, it asks if I want to save changes in
normal.dot, although I made no changes in Word configuration and it is not
infected by virus.

How can I avoid this?

Thanks

Some add-ins change Normal.dot each time Word is opened. The mere act of
adding themselves to the menu or a toolbar is enough to signal a change in
Normal.dot. I believe that an earlier version of Adobe Acrobat did this (I
use Adobe Acrobat Professional version 7, and it doesn't do it, but I
believe that version 5 did... don't remember version 6).

What add-ins are you using? You might check with the publisher to see if
there is a fix. Or, you might have to live with this infuriating practice if
you want whatever functionality is provided by the add-in.

What I ultimately did for such an add-in was to explicitly run Save All when
first opening Word (hold down Shift and click on File; the Save All command
now appears in the File menu). This didn't prevent the problem, but it did
let me get that annoyance out of the way up front so that any subsequent
notices about changes to Normal.dot were real.
