save changes prompt appears for unchanged documents

I couldn't reply to a post, so have to put this a the form
of a new post:

Beth,

Thanks for the reply. I have been using word for several
years without this happening. This is a recent phenomenon.
As far as I know I don't use the Entourage address book in
Word. Citing your two examples, any way I can get it to go
back to the old ways and stop doing this?

Even though *you* didn't make any changes to a document,
that doesn't mean
no changes were made. Word regularly updates AutoText
entries, in
particular your contacts from Entourage (if you use its
Address Book to
store contact info). That's what usually explains this.

If it's actually prompting to save to the Normal template, you can turn this
off in Preferences> Save
