Save Date Update Annoying

C

Chris Lopeman

OK, I have read many postings concerning Saved Date and still not
found what I am looking for. I want a date that is reflective of the
last time the document was modiefied. It would be best if it would
consider unsaved changes but that appears to be out of the question.
It would be nice if it updated when the doc was changed or even saved
but I can live with just open and print time.

So I used saved date. Turned on the option for update fields before
print. Well this works OK for the date field. But this also presents
a dialog regarding updating our TOC with every print. This is
annoying and not acceptable. It would probally be fine if the TOC
updated without asking. Anyway looking for options.

You help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Chris

Chris,
Maybe I miss what you're asking for but go to the Insert Toolbar, choose
Date & Time, make sure "update automatically" is checked

Ya you missed it a little. If I could choose "update automatically"
when inserting a "saved date" field then that might work. But that
option is not on the edit field dialog. Of course the date you just
asked me to insert will always change. This does not give me the last
modified time. Its closer to the print time. I don't want the date
to change to the current time just because it is being printed. But I
would like it to update the date with the current save date before
printing. Realize this may not actually change the date.
