This issue is with Word 2003 (11.8026.8036) SP2, part of Office Basic Edition
2003, running on Windows XP Professional SP2 Build 2600.
While editing a document I've created a habit of hitting Alt+f,s to save the
file often. Last night, while editing a 30+ page document with many changes
and change tracking on, this stopped working. I tried saving via pulling
down the File Menu and selecting Save, but Save wasn't there.
I closed everything down and shut down last night. This morning, I started
up the computer, opened that file, and looked for File Save, but it still
wasn't there. I then tried opening a new file and saving it, and the menu
option wasn't there, even after I used Save As to give the file a name.
I did discover that Ctrl+S and File Save As... appear to work, and so does
the prompt to save on exit. I just don't understand how I lost the menu item
and keyboard shortcut. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
