save error on autosave

I received a Word document from a coworker and everytime Word 2003 tries to
autosave I get the following message, "You cannot save while the document is
in use by another process. Try saving the file with a new name."

I have saved file with a new name and gone through the "help" suggestions
associated with the error message. This has just started occurring. It
doesn't seem to occur with any other documents. Any ideas? The document
came from a trusted source.
