I have several machines in a network all running Office
XP and Windows XP professional. They access documents
from a Windows 2000 server via a mapped network drive.
Some of the users have started getting the error message:
"word cannot complete the save due to a file permission
error"
If I look on the server you can see the TEMP file that
was created for each attempt to save. If I go to another
machine they can open the document and make changes and
save it. I can go back to the user that got the error and
they still cannot save it...even after a re-boot. The
file being accessed is not always the same file, but only
a few users get this error message.
As I said they all run Office Xp (word 2002 version
10.2627.2625) and XP pro version 5.1.2600 build 2600.
Windows 2000 server is version 5.00.2195 service pack 2.
Everything I find says it is a Index server problem and
to install service pack 2. I am not running an index
server.
