save event in entourage

Email Client: Exchange

When I enter a personal event in entourage, i can't save it to the calendar. I used to click the red "close" button in upper left and get a dialog asking if I want to save it; now I get nothing. It just sits there. There is no "save" button or the like on the screen.

Any ideas?

While viewing your event, go to View > Customize Toolbar and add the Save
button to your toolbar.

So, it's easy to add a save button. the problem is, it is grayed out. It doesn't do anything if I click it. (I tried exiting from entourage and restarting, but that button still doesn't work.) Oddly, when I delete an appointment from entourage (my secretary adds appointments on the exchange server using outlook), it asks if I want to permanently delete it, a question you usually get if you delete something that is already in the trash. I have no idea if that is related.

Thanks for your suggestion. I'd welcome any other thoughts on things to try.

Are these appointments created in your account, or as/by a delegate? It
is possibly a problem with delegate permissions - you may not have the
correct permissions to modify the event.

The account is in my name with my password. My assistant is a delegate (on outlook). She can add items. I can edit what she adds. I can log into a windows machine and add or edit appointments there. I cannot add personal appointments to my own entourage account. This is true, by the way, on two Mac computers I own, both running entourage 2008.
