save for web ... want jpegs, makes gifs

I'm trying to convert my powerpoint document to html, but when I do so it
saves all my images as gifs ... I need jpegs since they are all color photos
.... gifs come out dithered and crappy looking. how can I make it save all
images as jpegs?

What version of PowerPoint are you using?

PowerPoint X for mac

When you save as web page, choose Web Options in the save dialog.
On the Pictures tab, put a check next to Allow PNG as an Output Format

Depending on the other options you've chosen, PPT may also make GIFs to support
older browsers, but it'll make PNGs and your photos should look fine. In some
browsers. In prodding at this I noticed that MSIE 5 seems to be one of those
nasty "older" browsers MS means. It does indeed use the GIF version of the
graphics, and for reasons unknown, makes the white pixels in them transparent,
even though that wasn't how the originals looked. Same page opened in Safari
looks fine.
