save my settings wizard doesn't

When I run the "Save My Settings Wizard" that I recently (within the past
couple weeks) downloaded from Microsoft, and try to run it, it gets to the
point where I've entered my email address and password, and then outputs an
error msg:

We are having problems accessing the Save My
Settings Wizard server on the Internet. To make
sure you are connected to the internet, try
connecting to ...

Needless to say, I am connected.

Is this a known bug? Or do I have to fiddle with some settings (firewall?)
somewhere to make this work?

BTW, I'm aware of the warnings about this program does and doesn't do at
http://www.mvps.org/word/FAQs/General/FilesToBackupContent.htm. It's just
that I'm not aware of anything better. What I really want to do is to
maintain the settings consistent among several computers; is there a better
way to do this? (other than manually...) And is there an automatic way to
merge personal spelling dictionaries on different computers?

Hi Mike,

What version of MS Office are you using? The saving of
settings to a MS hosted webserver for Office 2000 was
discontinued,

MS Office XP includes a Save My Settings Wizard
on the CD.

Fooey. It would be nice if the "Wizard" were smart enough to know that
the webserver was discontinued.

Is there another program somewhere that does this sort of thing--collect
all the settings files and backs them up somewhere?
