Is there any way to save or export the Error Log other than copy & paste the text?

Entourage Error Log. Viewable in the menu Window>Error Log, or with the key combination "command-8". Copy and paste do not work. When you view the Error Log, you get a list with Date and Error. It would be useful to export the list to a text file.

Hmmmm.... Did you select all then copy? Did the MERP window popup? I
generally copy them from the MERP log. I don't have one to test now so can't
verify the directions you provided.

From the Error Log window, when you click on an individual error, an Error Description window pops up. After you close that window, you can Select All, but Copy is disabled (grayed out).

What's the MERP log? The directions I provided are a main menu command of the program. Are you saying that your Error Log is empty?

From the Error Log window, when you click on an individual error, an Error
Description window pops up. After you close that window, you can Select All,
but Copy is disabled (grayed out).

Entourage creates errors messages. The notification is a yellow icon in the
lower right of the window. These are usually Send & Receive errors. I take
screenshots.

Entourage creates a MERP (Microsoft Error Reporting Program) log when
Entourage crashes and gives you the option to send the report to Microsoft.
You can copy these logs. Sometimes when Entourage crashes an Apple report
pops up where you can also copy the logs. The button says "send to Apple."
Are you saying that your Error Log is empty?

It's grayed out, so I assume it's empty.

Can I post a screenshot of my Error Log here? I don't know how to do it.

You can post a screenshot link using a service like ImageShack. ImageShack
is an easy-to-use free media hosting service. It can be used to upload
images. Registration is not required in order to upload files.

ImageShack® - Image Hosting <http://imageshack.us/>

How To Post Screen Shots To Newsgroups

1. On your keyboard, press Command-Shift-4.
2. On your keyboard, press the space bar.
3. Click the window you want. A picture file will appear on the desktop.
4. Go to http://imageshack.us/.
5. Click Browse, then navigate to and select the picture file.
6. Click "host it!".
7. Paste the "Show image to friends" URL in a newsgroup message.

I believe that's because Entourage empties the error log every time you quit
the app.

Where do I find the MERP if I want to look at it?

Thanks to all of you, especially Diane for your help and efforts. Unfortunately, as Ed pointed out, the Error Log is emptied out on Quit. So I guess I'm stuck with screen shots as my only document. Here's an example of my last Error Log:

As you can see, there are numerous errors, which correspond to service outages with my ISP. I need to document these so I can help them troubleshoot the problem. Without being able to save a text version of the log, a screen shot is all I have, and I must remember to grab it before quitting.

Thanks again.

Hmmmm, let's talk about your schedules. It looks like you are trying to
download every 1 minute. Even 2 minutes is pushing it. I have mine set for
every 10 minutes. Try changing your schedule and see if the problem goes
away.

Go to OpenDNS and set up a free account. They provide excellent instructions
on changing your DNS settings. They include instructions for Windows, Mac
and Unix/Linux.

The proxy issues sound like Exchange setup problems. See the links below and
if you still have trouble, you need to start a new subject with Exchange in
the name and describe your problem. You can refer back to this thread too.

I don't believe you can access it, but there is a file called
merp.framework in the Office folder.

MERP is activated by the application and I don't think it's meant to be
available for the user. It does allow you to copy the log and add comments.

Must be a new feature in Office 2008; I don't find it for Office 2004.
Thanks anyway for the info.

It's been around for a while.

I don't see a MERP framework anywhere on my hard drive. I looked in
/Applications/Microsoft Office 2004/
/Library/Frameworks/
/System/Library/Frameworks/

What am I missing?
