Save Task Order Error

While working offline, I tried to close a task that had
been completed and I got an error message saying I
must "Save the Task Order". So I open the Task folder and
Select "Actions/Save Task Order". Outlook crashes after
that. Doing the same thing while I'm online and it
doesn't crash - it works fine.
Is this function (Save Task Order) something that should
only be performed while working ONline?
