My company is using OfficeXP and we are using WSUS Server to do automatic
update for OfficeXP Service Pack 3. After all the PC got updated with
OfficeXP SP3, Users hit a problem whereby whenever the do a save as to a
floppy disk, their PC just hang, the status bar for saving shows halfway and
no more lights on the floppy drive itself.

Please help me.

Are they saving directly to floppy from Office programs?
They shouldn't be because that's a great way to trash files
(and floppies). Only use Windows Explorer or a similar file
manager to move files between floppies and hard disks. Never
open a file directly from a floppy using an Office program
either.

What operating system are you using and have you recently applied the
Windows 2000 post SP-4 Roll Up security package? If yes, then contact
Microsoft Product Support Services for a hotfix.

Yes, We are using "Update Rollup 1 for Windows 2000 SP4". Are you saying
there is a hotfix to this problem?

Hi Romzi,

Yes, there is a hotfix for the diskette drive ceasing to
be usable after applying the Rollup update. You'll need to
phone the *Windows* support folks to get it at present, there's
no charge.
