My boss's computer keeps saving files with "junk" (some sort of unicode?) in
it where text once was. When you go to "save" a seemingly normal document,
Word 2002 (xp) will sometimes give you a dialog box when you save that says
"errors have been detected in the file" and that you can do one of the
following:
"Show Errors"
"Save with Errors"
"Cancel"
I find that if I click "Show Errors" (which it never shows me any) and then
click cancel, I can then save normally without any wierd message or problems
and the document is fine. The problem here is that my boss says that the
documents get corrupted without ever receiving such a choice, as listed
above, which I am not sure whether he's just not remember or what. Our
computers are all identical and no one else has experienced this problem.
This problem showed up about a year or less after purchasing the new
computer, however everything that I've read makes it seem as if the problem
is software not hardware.
Can anyone help?
Past attempts to fix this problem (each done multiple times):
- unintsall/reinstall Word
- saved new version of normal template
- get boss to click "show errors"
