Saved Docs changed format!

RE: Word 97 on XP Pro--furiously keyboarding, I hit some
wrong keys and the document I was editing disappeared. I
had not saved it since editing, and I could only recover
the original document. Then tried Auto-Recover and then
Recover Text to try to see if I could recover it in any
way--no luck. (Tools/Options/Recover Text from Any File)
Now lots (all?) of my saved Word documents have lost
formatting. (e.g., fax template has lost all cells as if
it had been saved in text format).

What to do to get my many documents back in original
format? Does this have anything to do with Normal
template, global template?? Thank you.

Hi Bill

Rest you File > Open dialog so you no longer have it set to 'Recover text
from any file' - that will solve the problem for exisitng documents, so long
as you didn't resave them from that format.

If you hit the same key combination in future (Ctrl-A to select all, then
the next character overwrites, perhaps?) don't panic <g>. Don't close the
file or save it over itself - look at your undo list and roll back to before
the problem.
