saved document is now blank

I

iheartejs

Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger)

I had a very important document that apparently I never backed up.

I just opened it, and it is completely blank, except for a few horizontal lines.

Is there any way to retrieve the old version?

I switched from the old .doc to the new .docx, although I doubt that is a part of it, since the rest of my documents are fine.

There's no way to retrieve the old version.

However, if you do File>Open from Word and specify "Recover Text from Any
Document" as the Type, if there is any text left in there, that will dig it
out.
