Saved documents cannot be retrieved, Beta 2007 word?

I think I did the latest updates as instructed but saved documents when I go
to open them will not open. Get error message cannot open these saved
documents.
Is it a compatability problem or what? I'm not too skilled at updates I just
trudge along. Said to go to settings or set up and double click
"02007cnv.exe" file. Couldn't find such a file.
Any help would be appreciated.

Sigh... repeated here so far hundreds of times.

If you use Norton AV, uncheck the Office Plug-in from its options selections.
