Saved word documents open with added info (2-5 pages)

The added info can be removed if i deselect in view, toolbars, standard
and formating. Then close the doc and reopen it. the original doc
appears. What makes this happen and how can I get rid of it?

Not totally clear on the problem--can you state Word and OS version, and
give a little more detail on what this added info looks like?

Wild guess in case you are describing what it sorta sounds like to
me--assuming that this occurs when you use File | Open to open Word
documents instead of double-clicking, make sure that Enable is NOT set to
"Recover Text from Any File".
