I have created a text box that appears in blue. How do I convert this to black lines? I presume I must save it but do not know how.

Have a look at the Help topic " Have Word complete your typing" and see if
the suggestions there would help you.

You can convert the lines using Format>Text Box...

The "blue" lines simply show you that currently the text box has "no" lines.

Hope this helps
