Saving Access DB

P

Pam

Forgive me but I am a novice. I have created a db for a
neighbor. I am trying to burn the db to a CD to give to
him; however it will only save as read-only. What options
do I change to make the file executable for him to load on
his machine? Thanks.

Once you copy the file back from the CD, find it in File Explorer.
Right-click on the file to get its properties, and uncheck the Read-Only
box.

Pam,

It is normal behavior for an Access database (and other files) to have their
read-only property set to True when copied to a CD. After copying the file
from the CD to your neighbor's computer, open Windows Explorer and find the
database you just copied. With the mouse, right click on the file. A small
pop-up menu will appear. At the bottom of the menu, look for the menu item
"Properties" and click that. Another window will open - toward the bottom
of that window - you will see that there is a Read-Only property that will
be checked. Simply click the check-box to "un-check" it. The database will
now be ready to go.
