Saving an Image

Hello all,

I have a picture/image in word that I would like to open in something
like 'acdsee' so that I can edit it. (brighten it up a bit for clearer
veiwing.)

The picture is of a platter inside a hard-drive and was saved from this
site:: http://www.storagereview.com/guide2000/ref/hdd/op/mediaSize.html
(I selected the whole page and saved it into Word)

I clicked on the image from the word document (after saving from site)
then right clicked on it after it was highlighted and chose 'edit' from the
context menu. From here I simply saved the image again into another
word document. I then renamed it with a .jpg extension and fired up
acdsee and tried to open it, but alas, it doesnt show up in acdsee as a
jpg. I tried renaming it with a .bmp extension but same deal.

How can I save it so that I can edit it in acdsee?

Ta for help.

Just changing the extension *doesn't* change the file type - which is what
the extn is supposed to indicate.

You're better off to use your browser's ability to save the image as an
image file directly to your hard drive, then use Insert>Picture>From File to
get it into your doc. You can also copy it from the Word doc & paste into a
blank image file window - am not familiar with the program you mentioned,
but it may serve the purpose.

There are other options as well, but saving a Word doc as a picture or
saving just the image directly out of Word as a .jpg or anything else aren't
among them.
