saving an interim plan

I saved the project plan as an interim plan before baselining it. I hav
two new columns Start1 & Finish1 to track the new progress.However. Th
Finish 1 is not getting updated automatically when I put the date i
Start1. I inserted an precedessor column but it still does no
automaticaly update the Finish1

can someone please help on how to get this working . So that I have th
planned start & finish ( my orginal dates), start1 & finish 1 (interi
dates)

Thanks a ton

Hi mailshubha,

The first purpose of a Baseline is to stay without moving! To keep track of
different steps of the project in its life cycle.

Hi,

Some misunderstanding.
Start and Finish fields are the dynamic fields that get updated all the
time.
The original plan will be kept in Baselie fieelds (or if yopu want, in an
Interim plan).
They are NOT updated.

Hi Gerad & Jan,

yes I understand the start and finish dates are dynamic. while savin
the interim plan, you can copy the start and finish dates to a new se
of start & finish, which I named as 'Start1' & 'Finish1'.

So my question is , if I would like to track using 'Start1' & 'Finish1
for a few weeks, is that possible?

Everytime I Update the start 1, the finish 1 does not get populate
based on the duration and I have to manually update the Finish1 date.

Hi,

That is not automatic, and I fail to see the relevance; still, it can be
done by putting a formula in a finishx field.
BUT! it's either or, when you have a formula in Finish you can no longer use
it as the base of an interim plan since its value will only be calculated by
the formula.
Maybe your solution is as follows.
Put the following formula (through Tools, Customize, Fields...) in Finish2

Projdateadd([Start1],[Duration])

Then Finish2 will show what you want.

Jan,

Thank You. I think I got it. I was trying to do the reverse. THanks
for the formula as well
