Saving an mpp project to a published version on an existing projec

I know this question has been asked and answered (go delete the project in
PWA) and then import the new project.

However, I have other existing versions of the project besides the published
version and I can't delete just the published version. Right now I think I
am stuck trying to copy paste from one plan into the published version, but
this is not 100% accurate (links don't copy apparently)

Any suggestions?
