Saving and moving downlaoded Office Ultimate

My daughter purchased Office Ultimate 2007 for download during Microsoft’s
“Ultimate Steal†promotion for students and installed it on 3 of our
computers. One computer’s HD is partitioned into a small C drive, containing
the XP OS, and larger D drive. The Office Ultimate 2007 program is on drive
C, would it work if it was on drive D? And how would we move it?

Also, that computer’s HD is beginning to fail and we’re worried about losing
the program. We want to save it so that it can be put on a new HD. How can we
make a back up copy, preferably on an external HD or on CDs?

If the HD were to crash and we lost the program, would Microsoft allow us to
download the program again to be installed on the new HD? She still has the
purchase information.

Thank you for your help.

If you read the Office 2007 Ultimate Edition's Software License
Terms, you will see that it is only licensed for installation on
TWO computers.

Isn't it 2 PCs and a Laptop?

One PC plus laptop. You need to make a DVD or other backup of the download,
unless you (a) paid for extended download or (b) bought the optional DVD.
What did you do with the download file? You really should have saved the
download or the directory tree that it creates when you expand it.

I had a problem with reinstalling an Office download and Microsoft Customer
Service gave me a link to another one, but you cannot count on this if you
have not paid for extended download. Links for the Microsoft Office Online
Store Customer Service follow.

No. Only the retail-version Office 2007 Home and Student Edition
allows installation on three computers. All other Office 2007
editions allow installation on one or two computers, depending on
version (OEM, retail, home use program, etc.). Quoting from the
retail-version Office 2007 Ultimate Edition's Software License Terms:

2. INSTALLATION AND USE RIGHTS. Before you use the software under
a license, you must assign that license to one device. That
device is the "licensed device." A hardware partition or blade is
considered to be a separate device.
a. Licensed Device. You may install and use one copy of the
software on the licensed device.
b. Portable Device. You may install another copy on a portable
device for use by the single primary user of the licensed device.
c. Separation of Components. The components of the software are
licensed as a single unit. You may not separate the components
and install them on different devices.

Of course I saved the download file, I save everything! I just didn't
recognize it because it had a number instead of a name. Once I went through
everything in my folder of downloaded installers I found it. And, after the
computer crashed on Friday, I was able to reinstall the program.

Thank you for your help.
