saving attachments without saveas first

Please help. This is an ongoing problem that needs to be fixed. Opening
attachments from outlook / outlook express is a problem How do people fix it
so users dont just hit the save button. There has to be a way to either
recover the lost files /c:\documents and settings\user\local settings\temp
internet\OLK5\files
or a way to prevent users from saving to that directory. Please how can I
set up outlook/outlook express to not save opened attachments to this
directory by default. I am losing lots of work when people do this/

Sure. Click Start>Run and in the Open field, enter

C:\Documents and settings\user\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\OLK5

(where "user" is, of couse, the username) and click OK. Windows Explorer
will open in that folder. If the saved files are there, drag them
elsewhere.

Thanks very much for that seemingly simple solution but I have tried that.
For some reason they dont remain in that directory or location do they get
over written? What can be done about lost saved temp files/? ie word and
others

Temp files are, well, temporary. You should never rely on any temp folder
contents. Your users' problems are behavioral and only they can correct
them.

My question is this. I realize its due diligence on the part of the user, yet
is there any way to prompt the user or let them know they are working in a
temp folder immediately so they dont forget?

I don't know of any way to remind them. There are seldom good technological
solutions to behavior problems.
