How can I create a backup for some of the project plans (each their own indvidual mpp file), but not have it so all of them are required to generate a backup? Currently, we have gone to

Fil
Save A
Tool
General Option
(and checked the box) Always create backu

This function makes it so every file that is saved using Microsoft Project 2002 has a backup created. This is not ideal for our situation, and we would like to individually select the Project files (mpp files) that have a backup created. Any advice would be appreciated!

Thanks
Justin

Justin,
The approach that I use is very simple and quite effective. I always use
the Save As method whenever I save a file but if I want to save a
particular backup I give it a date code such as: FileName010204
representing today's date, month and year.

That options creates a backup file each time the project is opened,
whether or not edits are made or changes saved. I personally find it
less than useless unless you have terribly unstable power and are
worried that a surge while looking at a file might corrupt it. I'd use
some other indenpendent backup program, perhaps something that has an
action script capability so you can specify what files to copy and when,
to make a true backup on some media other than the original hard drive
folder (which is where it's going at present, thus not protecting
against a drive crash etc).
