Dear all,
during last weeks i am facing with this problem, every time a pm want to
save the baseline0 project professional 2007 get frozen, how can I solve it?
I though on categories and groups permission, I checked the save protected
baseline and save unprotected baseline rights but they are set both to allow
for Project Managers Group.
what could causing it?

Thank you all.

Is this an issue for all PMs on all projects or just some? Have you tested
whether and administrator or other security roles are having the same
problem? Please provide some more detail.

Thanks,

Jonathan

My account as administrator does not have this issue, at this time 3 pm show
me what happen when they save baseline0, I did not see all the other pm, at
least 40 more... I checked if there are save protected baseline and save
unprotected baseline right set to deny on categories where the Project
Mangers group is member but it's not the case.

If some are experiencing the issues and others aren't you need to do more
investigation as to what might be the root cause. Some suggestions.

1) Have the user delete their cache folder "12" and "Cache" under MS Project
and then log into pro and attempt to save the baseline again. Cache issues
could possibly be a cause.
2) While logged into the PM's machine as the PM, log onto Project Pro using
your administration credentials and attempt to save the baseline. This will
let you know if this is account specific (permissions) or machine specific.

Let me know what you find out.

Dear Jonathan,
I checked at least ten machines and all user members of project manager
group cannot save baseline ( n. 0 ) I checked also rights and they have save
protected baseline and save unprotected baseline rights allowed... what
could causing this?

Sorry for the delay.

Sorry to keep asking this but have you logged in as yourself on these PM's
machines and verified that you are able to save basline0 on the same
projects they are hanging on?

Also, did you delete their cache folders 12 and Cache like I suggested in
the previous post?

Still trying to narrow down the cause, I am not convinced that it is
necessarily permissions.

Yep I deleted both folder to have the cache empty, with my account (project
admnistrator) I am able to save baseline0, with every pm account in every
workstation Project professional 2007 froze, actually I check categories and
there are no deny... actually I am not able to find another way to solve it.

Any ideas?

I am curious, can you add a PM to the administrator group temporarily and
see if that fixes their issue? Also, add yourself to the PM group and see
if this causes the issue. If it does then there is definitely some
combination of permissions that are causing the system to hang on Baseline0.

How much have you deviated the PM permissions from the out-of-the-box
configuration if at all?

Dear Jonathan,
really sadly I have to admit that changing workstations the same user (PM)
is able or not to save baseline 0, it's not a categories/group related issue,
is something related to the workstation, in a fresh installed workstation
with project pro 2007 saving baseline 0 is ok as pm, I did not try add the pm
to the administrators group because that was sufficient to understand that is
something related to the pc.

The troubleshooting become more complex because I did not install any
project pro 2007 sp1 into pm workstations all of them are without service
pack, but it's not a way reinstall project pro 2007 to all the pm
workstations...

Any other person found this problem?

Actually to be complete with your previous post, I did not change actual
categories, I just created new ones were people like BU Directors or Area
Directors are members (no deny inside them), they don't have to save
baseline, so they are not interested to this problem.
