Saving Conflict On Shared Workbook

S

sharing challenged

User has 5 Shared Excel Workbooks. The first one was created in October 2003. She created each Workbook as protected and she is the only one with the password. However, on each tab, she has allowed one additional person to be able to modify a select group of fields. (implemented using Tools/Sharing

Users access these workbooks frequently and often have them open all day everyday.

This system has worked fine -- until last Friday. Now all five spreadsheets are getting save conflicts

Most users access via terminal servers. However there are a few with desktop/laptops. There are a total of 12 Users

Current Next Steps
Having user check the configuration of the latest 'new user' to verify the person is accessing the spreadsheet from the cluster.

Any other Ideas on things to check ?

By "save conflicts" do you mean that you get a warning stating that tw
people are trying to make changes to the same cell, or a general erro
when trying to save the file? I've only ever had the later. When
looked at the list of shared users, I found several duplicates...as i
someone had not "logged off" properly. Deleting the duplicates seeme
to help.

One other stab in the dark...check the system date and time on th
user's computer. If that somehow got modified, when they save thei
changes, Excel may think their old changes are actually new update
(which then conflict with the old, previously saved, changes).

As a note, I set my users' files to update themselves every 10 minutes
That way if they have the file open all day, as your user does, you ar
not loading all your changes as the same time, which would increase th
likelihood of having conflict a with someone else's changes
