Saving Consolidated Project

I have a consolidated file I would to save weekly. I would like to have a
gold copy but refer to the saved file if needed for comparison. How do you
save the file
and break the links so my current changes will not be applied to the saved
copy?

Record a macro of you double-clicking the project level Task 0 then breaking
the link. That will show you (in the recorded macro) how to break the link.
You then save as.

Alternatively, have a list in a project or text file of all projects and
have a macro create a new consolidation, but with the link to project option
off. This copies all tasks and creates a safe copy with the same result as
above.
