Saving Default Fonts and Paragraph Settings - Word 2007

C

CatKnox

Each time I save the defaults for fonts and paragraph settings and exit word
I am prompted that I am savings changes to global template normal.dotm, when
I try to save the template it receive a screen that I do not have
administrative privilages to make this save.

I am running Adobe Acrobat 8.1.1 and have seen the prior posts on conflicts
with Acrobat 7.0 with Word 2007.

Suggestions?

Did you try following the suggestions in the other posts you read and
disable the Adobe add-in?

Regardless of the version, Adobe is notorious for not being able to get
things right in their add-ins and each version seems to bring a new issue.

Thank you for the response. I have disabled the add-in, but this did not
help. I have tried the other suggestions, except for modifying the registry
(which I am a bit reluctant about). None of which have helped. Also, I
failed to state this, but I am running this on a Vista Ultimate platform.

Which Registry modifications are you referring to? For Word?

Have you checked the permissions for the folder your Normal template is in?
To find it, in a Windows Explorer, in the address bar type:
%appdata%\Microsoft\Templates

Also verify Normal.dotm is in the Templates folder - the location I provided
is the default location and it could have been changed.

None of the Registry keys listed have anything to do with the inability of
saving changes to your Normal template so you don't need to try the
suggestion. :)

Did you verify the permissions for your Normal template as I suggested? I
suspect you are also using Vista and many have reported similar permission
issues.

Thank you again for your responses.

When I exit windows I receive a message that I am about to save changes to
the global template normal.dotm then prompted to click ok; after answering ok
screen displays that file is write protected or that I do not have
administrative privilages to save to this file (file is same as the one that
you suggested that I find above). I can save other files to this file, but
not the .dotm extension?

Have you checked the permissions for the folder your Normal template is
stored in? To find it, in a Windows Explorer, copy/paste the following in
the address bar:

%appdata%\Microsoft\Templates

and check the permissions for your Templates folder.

Right-click the Folder and select Properties. Then click the Security tab
and check your permissions. You need Full Control over this folder.

Also, this Help topic may be applicable as well (see I installed a new
version of Windows and now I can't open a folder)
