Saving old version doc files as Word 2008 docx files makes our letterhead logo graphic go weird. Any suggestions?

My suggestion is "Don't do that" :)

There are some things that do not convert perfectly between the older file
format and the new one. Graphics are amongst them. Office 2008 uses a new
graphics engine and a different graphics standard.

The best idea would be to produce a new logo graphic for use with the new
format files.

Generally it is inviting trouble to switch back and forth from one file
format to the other: you will get "stretch marks" from each journey, and
ultimately your documents may become unreliable.

Hope this helps

Many thanks John McGhie - will just have to remake templates and enter 'transition' workflow mode. Gotta love upgrades.

I have a large batch of forms and I want to save data only versions of them. Since there seems to be no way to globally turn this on, I want to use Automator to take the hassle out of repeatedly toggling "Save Data Only for Forms..." on.

A freeware suite of Office actions has a "Save Microsoft Word Document" action that gives me the ability to toggle this on. Alas, it doesn't work with the current Word 2008. Microsoft has bundled its own "Save Word Document" action, but it offers no options to customize what it saves beyond specifying file type.

Any thoughts. I've searched. I've used every Automator trick I know or could find. I've even tried my hand at Applescript. No luck.

tell application "Microsoft Word" to activate
tell application "System Events"
tell process "Microsoft Word"
tell menu bar 1
tell menu bar item 2
tell menu "Word"
click menu item 4
delay 1
keystroke "Save"
keystroke return
keystroke tab
keystroke tab
keystroke tab
keystroke tab
keystroke tab
keystroke tab
keystroke tab
keystroke space
keystroke return
keystroke "s" using command down
end tell
end tell
end tell
end tell
end tell
