Saving document as .pdf

I created a document in MS Word (Office X, OS X version
10.2.3), the document has 12 sections due to different
formats and footers in each section. I have tried several
times to save the document as a .pdf file, each time the
document is saved as 12 separate files. How can I save a
document having numerous sections as a single .pdf
document?

It usually requires a page size or orientation change to force a new
PDF, but I too have seen inexplicable fragmenting. I have given up. I
glue the bits together afterward. Here is a free application to do
nothing but glue pdfs together.
