I create a document in Microsoft word and attempt to save
it to disk. I keep getting a message file permission
error. This prevents me from saving the document. Have
you heard of this and how to correct the problem

I am having the same trouble.
I have tried to repare Word from my original installation
disks and have downloaded what appear to be fixes but they
have not worked. If anything things are now worse.

Not sure what is causes the problem... But if you can save to your hard disc you can then use Windows Explorer to move to floppy.

Hope this helps

If you're trying to save to a floppy, don't! This is one of the top three
causes of document corruption. Instead, save to the HD and copy to the
floppy. Also, never try to open a file directly from a floppy. The mere
attempt can corrupt it.

I have the same problem and cannot locate any reference to
what would seem to be a very common command on any of
the "Help" tabs. In my case it says the files are "Read
Only" or that "Access has been denied". Hopefully someone
will point us in the right direction.

Are you by chance working with a file on a CD? Even if it is CD-RW, you
would want to copy it to your hard drive and then change the document's
property from read-only. If you have a program that lets you treat a CD like
a big floppy drive you may be tempted to just edit a document from there.
The problems you are experiencing so far are minor compared to what you will
see if you make a practice of this. One of the lesser problems is that
Word's temp files will eat up space on your CD like you wouldn't believe.
