saving document

I am trying to save a word doc (Office 2000 using Windows
XP)to a different drive (CD). The doc was created on my C:
drivbe and is not marked read only. When I try to save to
the CD I get a message "cannot save <file name> folder is
marked read only". How can I fix this? I use the CD as a
file back up management tool.
