Saving emails in Outlook 2002

Hi

We use Outlook 2002 at work. In a few weeks time we are
being limited as to the amount of emails we can keep in
our Outlook 2002 mailbox. As I am reluctant to delete
emails can anyone suggest how I can save my old emails to
a folder on my hard drive so that I can reference them
when needed. I'm not sure if archiving would achieve this?

Our company use a Microsoft exchange server.
I would appreciate a solution that makes my old emails
accessible.
Thanks

Hi Nick

you can export your emails by selecting the concerned folder in the folder list and then selecting "import/export" from the Outlook file menu. There you select "export" and the file format you prefer (e.g. pst). Another possibility is to save each of your mails as msg- or txt-file. This is a file-system-nearer solution since every mail is exported as one file (due to mapi overhead, the size of the exported mails can exceed the size of the exchange mailbox' size). You can do this by drag-and-drop (or "save as" in the file menu). It's up to you to decide which solution fits better for your purpose
