Saving Excel file on shared drive creates duplicate file

One of our reports (with links to a totals worksheet) shared by about ten
users creates a duplicate file some of the time and stores it with a name
like 30EAC000. This is confusing our users. Why is this happening? Are the
users doing something to cause it?

The shared file creates a Temp file. The Temp disappears when you save the
Shared file but will be recreated as long as the workbook has other users
.. Somthing like that
