Saving files to local drive from shared drive

I am using project professional 2003 and I have eight files (includin
one master file) that I store on a shared drive. From time to time
copy the folder that they are located in on the shared drive and past
it onto my local drive to do some what if scenarios. When I open th
master file from my local drive I have noticed that sometimes the file
inside of the master are actually still located on the shared drive an
not on my local drive as I would expect. This only happens about
quarter of the time that I save the file down to my local but I canno
figure out why it does this. I thought that if you copy the entir
folder (where all of the project files are located) to another locatio
that it should reestablish the links to the new location. Any help tha
you could provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I don't understand why you get inconsistent results, but one thing to
look at is whether the files are inserted into the master as copies or
as links to the actual project files.
