Saving files with Office XP installed after Office 2000 Removed

I have a Windows XP machine that I just removed Office 2000 from and
installed Office XP. When saving a file, it takes more than 45 seconds
before I actually see the window prompting me for the location to save.

Latency is in all Office applications.

I uninstalled Office XP and reinstalled Office 2000 just to find that the
problem migrated over to Office 2000.

Ideas?

Do you have any antivirus programs isntalled?

Especially if you have norton, try disabling the Norton Office plugin from
Norton Options -> Miscallanoeous. This should fix.

Also do you have the same latency when you go to safe mode of windows?
