Saving Format Changes to Server

J

James Reinardy

Hi,

I am having an issue with Project Server where format changes, e.g. changing
the units or number of tiers on a Gantt chart timescale are not saved when
we update a published version on the server. They do seem to be saved if we
simply write to .mpp files. I am using the Gantt chart view, not the
Enterprise view. Is there an option or security setting that I might be
missing?

Thanks,

Hi James, where exactly do you try to "save" this change ? In a specific
Project or in the Global Template?

Please note in order to ensure that some Formats remain within a Project,
you will need to change the global template.
A format change to a Project within Project Server will revert back to the
global template when you reopen the project in Project Professional, meaning
that you will lose the formats you have been doing in your project.

There are several ways to maintain formats within a project. The first one
would be to gernerate a Project view ( a view that is only applicable to your
project ). Another option would be to change your global template. This would
mean that all projects within Project Server would have the "new" format that
you've been setting up in your global template.
Please let me know if you have more quesitons. Hope this helps

Marc,

I was trying to save the format within a specific project. Generating a
project view resolved the issue. Many thanks!
