Saving in Notepad causes line breaks

If you open http://www.polisource.com/misc/notepad-bug.txt in Notepad when
the Notepad window isn't full-screen size (mine is about half the size of my
monitor), then maximum Notepad so it is full screen size, you'll see the text
spread out to fit the width of the screen. That's what I want because it's
only one line. But then if you make the screen smaller again and save the
file then maximize again, the text won't be spread out. Is that a bug?

Just to clarify...I don't care very much about being able to resize Notepad
without. The bad part about this bug is that the line breaks get added to the
text in the text box when I save the document, so if I save the document then
try cutting and pasting what used to be a single wrapped line, it will be
truncated where ever I paste it. I mentioned resizing the screen only so you
can see that the text really was one line at the start.

Toggle = change from the current value to a different value.
e.g. *uncheck* or *turn off* word-wrap.

That keeps it on one line, but I want it to wrap when it gets to the end of
the window no matter what size I make the window, so I need word wrap
checked, but I don't want copyable line breaks added when I save it. Or ANY
new line breaks, even if they just render in Notepad when maximized, though
Notepad would at least be useable if there was only a visual problem in
Notepad and the line breaks weren't copyable.

As before,

1. Notepad isn't part of Office.
2. It's very simple, you get what you have.

Further questions about it would be better asked in the group for your
operating system as the are minor differences between the NT windows
versions and the dos Windows version.

Hi Barry,

Unfortunately there are a number of word wrap related oddities in Windows Notepad through Windows XP, that you can work around using
Windows Wordpad or MS Office Word or a 3rd party free replacement. Some were fixed in the Vista notepad version.

You may also want to check with the folks in the Windows XP discussion group as well to see if there are any known updates/fixes.
